Motocross of Nations shakeups
August 25th 2006 08:12
Mx Des Nations time again (or as its now know - Motocross of Nations). And the Aussie team has been named. And then changed. First it was Chad Reed, Michael Byrne and Brett Metcalfe. Then Reed pulled out with injury and now Byrne has Visa problems???? Craig Anderson was asked to jump in but declined due to his thumb injury. Finally, Daniel Reardon and Cheyne Boyd were asked and had no hesitations accepting. To be held in Winchester, England, on September 23-24 and I’m sure the boys will do us proud.
Team USA appears to be a daunting challenger though with Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart and teen sensation Ryan Villopotto representing. Team USA has got to easily be favoured to take the win while the rest of the positions are anyones for the taking really.
And whilst the mens racing in the US Motocross series seems to be fairly subdued in regards to off track action this year, the womens class is making a name for itself as the class for the brawlers. Jessica Patterson took a swipe at Tarah Greiger after the race at Washougal. Patterson apparently waited for Grieiger after the race and then T-boned her on the track and gave her a slapping. Mechanics and Managers got involved somewhere too and yada yada yada, they got fined and penalized.
Kiwi Katherine Prumm has been cleansweeping every round with ease but won’t be doing anymore rounds due to funding issues. One of her sponsors pulled out and she cant afford to travel over. Hard luck! Fastest women in the world at the moment and she has trouble securing sponsors.
Local News
In 2007 shake ups – Jake Moss has signed with Serco and Ford Dale with CDR Yamaha.
US News
James Stewart to race in US Open for first time this year too!
Ricky Carmichael lapped up to second place at Milville MX. Crazy stuff!
